I got a call from the guy who is boarding my pregnant mare, Drumstick, who informed me that he sees the "sack" and we should be having a baby in a week or two. Drumstick, is living down in the valley where it is warmer than the mountains. We moved her down there so that the foul wouldn't freeze to death after being born. It won't warm up up here until later in February.
I'm excited and glad I decided not to sell my horses. Part of the trade was getting Drumstick trained and the trainer says she has a good head. I'm looking forward to having the horses up in the mountains, but I still have to get a corral and a fence.
UPDATE (02/01/09) We had a horse mid-wife check Drumstick and apparently she is NOT ready to give birth. She told us that Drumsticks tail would get real loose when it is time. Right now her tail is stiff. She also invited us to go the farm where she works and see the different stages so we will know when Drumstick is really ready.

LS, why did I not know you rode horses? What a crazy way to learn more about someone I've known and loved for 20+ years?! I got to your blog by, you guessed it, your friend FACEBOOK (lol!)
love,
denise
Well you haven't missed a thing because I don't know how to ride horses. I have two horses that I don't know how to ride. I'm taking riding lessons now and it has been challenging as you can see by the rest of the blog.
